When Anger Takes
When Anger Takes
To get through this labyrinth,
slanted like a cross-
feasible once
gone straight across-
now perilous
and all is lost.
My name is a sieve
The blood drains out nice
veins pumping absinthe
and a heart like ice.
Let go to live
embrace despair
and forget the man
remember the beast instead
berserker rage
bottled like liquor
to be drunk when ready
everyone is an enemy.
Love thyself says the sage,
Self-reliance yet another.
Reciprocity is Chinese I think,
And Karma means action.
I’ll take but never give
and hate all that isn’t me.
Reciprocate insults and injuries
yet never have a kind word
that isn’t spiked with enmity.
My karma will lie black
on the uneven scale-
that defines a polarity
within the world.
I’ll be unkind
in relation to adversity.
An alien of mankind.
Alive to spite sincerely-
anyone who prays
for my benefit.
Leave me my guilt
and shame-
it is you who wishes
to be clean.
Not me.
So scrub away
till you bleed.
Forgive me not
for my sins.
Free me not from
my guilt.
Release me never
from my cage.
I own up
and regret nothing.
I deny you the power
of your dumb opinions-
so chew and choke
upon them.
And without your feeble words
you have no ammunition
against this Abomination
that you yourself created.
Without fear
I am free
and lock you
within the cage-
of self doubt
and bigotry.
Without looking back-
I throw away the key.
