The self proclaimed best sorcerer in the world Alphons had a little problem.  Well, to a normal person it would be a gigantic problem, more like a world ending hellish problem to be exact, basically everyone on the planet wanted him dead for one reason or other.  Some were, well, justifiable, but most were more political, he had the biggest bounty ever on his head and the ire of two of the biggest countries at his back.

Questions

Who wants Alphons dead?

The Sorceress Melthusilla of the Scarlet Lace, now the official Grand Sorcerer of the strongest country, the nation of Ilco.

The Eastern Nation of Adioh, bordering Ilco and currently not at war, but not allies.

The bounty of 1,000 golden coins alive and 200 golden coins dead, issued by Adioh.  The bounty of 1,200 golden coins only alive issued by Ilco, must be alive.  Other lesser bounties issued by various people and states for various reasons.

Why do they want him dead?

Character

So, if Alphons is the so called Greatest Sorcerer in the World, than what is he good at?  First of all, he has a perfect memory.  Second he has read every book of importance in all the major libraries when he was still a young sorcerer.  He studied for two whole years, getting his hands on every single bit of so-called Static knowledge, even finding hidden, forbidden, and forgotten books using very basic manipulation and charm to get his way, making sure not to ever overdue it and use Spiritus sparingly.  He also got his hands on an ancient staff, known as the Astral Impact.  So old, made of (some cool tree) and a flat top where a certain element is placed which works basically like a battery.  (some name for element I can’t think right now, some rare jewel or stone or something).  The staff is very old and looks like garbage.  Alphons, knowing its origin from (some book with a cool name), uses it almost exclusively and calls it his Gray Staff.  It is a very powerful tool and can fool people into believing it is just a stick.

After he learned everything he could from Static sources he sought out other sorcerers.  He could make friends very easily (using very advanced charms and even going as far as facial reconfiguration), learn everything they know, train, and than leave them in the dust.   Basically he was a magic thief.  So subtle, so slow, he compiled a massive amount of knowledge and skills while using very basic, low spirit magic and flew under the radar for three years.

Technically he is capable of using most magic, but his real skill is knowing the price and limits of his powers, never overreaching.

And when he finally had to use his magic in desperation (some back story) he used too much Spiritus (a war? Idk).

He felt the Black Cancer and using Mirror magic (mirror magic! Another type), a basic look into the psyche, he could see the darkness and madness evolve slowly.

Before his mind was overtaken he created his own magic spell, one to divide his now overloaded psyche and successfully split his psyche creating Will.  He is the only person who ever successfully fooled the Black Cancer.  It was so successful that he was basically cured.  (the actual spell required some sort of horror, idk yet, it was painful? Sacrifice? Maybe too dark idk)

Wizards are Sorcerers from the Order of the Grand Church.  They are generally weak since they only follow the teachings of the Grand Church only and are limited in what they can or allow themselves to do.

Character

Mel was the lover of Alphons for approx. 6 months before Alphons left her, in the simplest terms.  Mel is at powerful Elemental magic and Manipulation, with a natural inclination pyromancy and weather manipulation.  She was also a Puppetmaster, capable of completely controlling people with weak minds.  She also had a strong (Lascivious) Sexual power, influencing most men and even women with her charms.  She was a sorcerer for a little more than five years when Alphons left her.  Not yet infected with the Demonic Cancer or Sorcerer Madness, she was clearly on the edge.  When Alphons left, her lust for revenge consumed her which actually staved off complete madness.

She wanted to get married and basically take over the world.  Marriage is forbidden in the magic community as is procreation since children of sorcerers are always abominations.

WAIT- why does Adioh want him?

Alphons was sickly white when he reached the blighted forest at the edge of the Deepfens at the edge of Malboro country.  He had left the lump of clay he used to form a Golem using a Movement spell to carry him for three days but it had exhausted the last of Alphons spirit and  \finally fell to pieces crumbling under his weight. He knew that his finely made thin, long legged Golem was five times faster than the fastest horse would carry him to his destination and no further.  He knew the limits of his power.  He was the self proclaimed greatest sorcerer in all the land after all.

“Now what?” a blue spirit sprouted from under his hood, a wisp connected to his left temple that only he could see.  “You gonna die at the edge of the world alone, with me, instead burning alive on a cross?  Great plan.”

“Please shut up.”  Alphons grappled a blackened tree trunk with wiry thin branches gasping. STAFF His skin was so white it was almost translucent. “you already know what i’m thinking Will, so please shut up.”

“And why would I do that?”  the blue face, a shadow of Alphons’ visage as if it came through a pale blue fire, continued.  “i think your plan is a pile of stupendous horseshit and you’re gonna get us killed.  I still appreciate my own existence by the way, no matter if we are….”       HIS STAFFFFF

Alphons swiped at the ghostly blue thing connected forever to his left temple.  Will dissipated, but it was only a temporary relieve for Will would reform in a matter of minutes.

As Alphons struggled for breathe and looked at his brittle bony hands he knew he was at his limit.  He carefully placed his Gray Staff against the tree and pulled out a pouch from underneath his cloak and placed it on the floor.

A Sorcerer did not eat food nor did they drink.  After the Elevation Sacrament and drinking the Potion of Lucidity they were forever changed for magic always came at a cost.  The ritual changed a normal human into a channeling force for the (#Powers) however the very chemistry of their bodies changed and they required special (Mana) Potions to gain Spirit to do the various tricks.  Unfortunately, Mana Potions were extremely expensive.  But more importantly Mana Potions were addictive and, when used for prolonged periods, would cause madness.  The average span for a sane sorcerer was about 3 years.  Alphons was a sorcerer for more than ten years, since he was twenty.  Whether he is mad or not, well, that is a matter of opinion.

He opened the pouch and revealed five oval bottles filled with a glowing light blue liquid stacked neatly in a row.

“Five left.”  he said as he touched the stoppered bottles with the tips of his fingers.  He was very hungry.   He was craving.  For the normal human it is hard to really find the word.  It felt as if his very heart cried out for it.  He needed one whole bottle to get back his strength, not just a sip.

He clutched the bottle on the left, bit the stopper off and drank every last drop of the contents, making sure not to let even one drop trickle down his chin.

Almost immediately blood flowed in his veins and his muscles recovered.  The pallid color lifted from his skin and the duggs underneath his eyes shriveled away.  The corpse-like man suddenly became a handsome young lad.  The surge of power brightened his blue eyes and he felt, if only for a moment, like a god.

But that rush always lasted only a few seconds before reality bit you in the ass.  But in this case, it was Will who would bring, once again, that breeze of reality.

“Well four left.”  the blue face reappeared.  “I guess that’s enough to run away to the end of the world where none can getcha.”

“i ain’t running.”  Alphons said to his incessant split psyche.  “I was able to solve the greatest problem of a sorcerer.  I don’t give a fuck if the entire world army is coming for me, I’ll find a way to win.”

“i love when you talk dirty to me.”  the blue spirit said.  “and I love it even more when you have a mad look in your eye.  Are you sure you solved the problem?  Is this really the way you solve madness?  By splitting your very mind in two?”

“Hey,”  Alphons was standing tall holding his great Gray Staff in his left hand, “you may be a bastard, but at least your my bastard.  No wizard or witch ever thought of splitting their own mind to stave off the madness of the Spiritus Potions.  It was rather simple.   I am just that awesome.”

Just for a moment, Alphons smiled.

“We are going to die, aren’t we?”  Will asked.

“Yeah, we are rightly fucked.”

The games of sorcerers

they arrive at the tavern

the tavern is big and is popular at a famous crossroads where many different people intersect

inside the tavern people play games

they meet a magician (a person who can’t do actual magic) he performs card tricks and impresses Alphons.  Mel gets bored and fucks with the magician with real magic.

Two men come to there table and declare that they are after a bounty on Alphons.

Explanation of why he has a bounty on him in another Dukedom (come up with some back story)

the two men attack Alphons.  Somebody else stops them with a temporary freezing spell before they can react.

A man and a woman appear, take away their weapons and unfreeze them.  They all argue, the bartender/tavern owner comes with a  bat and knocks both men out.  He drags them out at the same time by the legs, throwing them in the gutter.  (the bartender and Alphons have a good relationship)

Alphons recognizes the man, an old friend and a fellow mage.  His woman friend is also a mage.

The four of them sit down and drink Diabolical.  Than they play a game like truth or dare but with a binding spell with conditions: if they don’t tell the truth or perform the dare they will die.

At some point they piss off the owner who threatens them with his bat.  He has been kind to sorcerers in the past but doesn’t want any more magic in the tavern.

Mel is bored and comes up with a new game as they leave the tavern (Xroads).  The other two want to go down the ally to another tavern and realize the game she wants to play is very dangerous.

Mel insults them as they leave and convinces Al to play along.  The game is who can summon the biggest fire Elemental.  Knowing she has an affinity to fire an he has more an affinity to wind and water, he feels like the challenge is unfair but since he wants to test his skills and is a competitor accepts.

They start summoning fire Elemental on the city outskirts.  They escalate the batte, summoning bigger and more powerful elementals while drinking diabolical and spyritus.  They are capable of controlling the elementals until Alphons summons the biggest he could find.

In short, the Fire Elemental goes out of his control and begins to burn the ciity in the shape of a giant bird.  He tries using all his power to dispel it but it ends up burning down most of the city and killing hundreds of people.

In the mayhem, Mel is cackling and laughing, she thinks its hilarious.

He eventually dispels the fire bird Elemental.

They leave the city down () road as if nothing happened, drunk on the mayhem and Diabolical.
